Netcare Milpark Hospital (***) - Case: ***

I was admitted at Netcare Milpark Hospital on the 3rd of Mar 2013. Thabisile from netcare requested authorization on my behalf, as per Medshield and it was confirmed in writing that it will be for 2 day only.

The question is: why was I not informed about it at the of the 2nd day, because, had I known, I would have taken an informed decision or requested to be released so that I do not have to incur any additional cost.

Normally the hospital would advise the patient if something of this sort happens, so that the patient can make an informed decision whether to stay or move out. all the hospitals that I have been to, they did that during my stay, why not at Netcare?

In this case I had no idea that, my medical aid did not give an approval for the 3rd day.
Due to the hospital's failure to advise me, I am told I owe the hospital an amount of R 6000.00 plus of which I believe its unfair to me. I explained to Edana Coetzer that I did not agree with any person or institution that I will take liability if the I was kept in hospital for more than 2 days. my condition at the time, was not such that I cannot make rational decisions on my own.
