Netcare Garden City Hospital - Section 7

My 55-year-old sister, Sharmayne, was admitted through Casualty on Tuesday, 19 May, and was subsequently transferred to Section 7. Although she was the patient, I remained by her side throughout her stay, as she has been paralysed and unable to speak or hear since birth. As a result, I needed to stay with her so that I could communicate on her behalf and assist with her needs. I slept in the ward next to her for the entire week.

From the moment we arrived in Section 7, Chris and his team went above and beyond to make what was an incredibly difficult and emotional time as comfortable as possible. Chris, the nurses (too many to mention individually), the hostesses—especially Sophie and Gugu—and even Nokwanele from the cleaning team, all treated us with genuine care, compassion, and respect.

What stood out most was that they never made us feel like just another patient file or bed number. They saw us as people and consistently went out of their way to ensure that both my sister and I were cared for with dignity and kindness - their warmth, patience, and willingness to help made a world of difference to both of us.

Their professionalism, empathy, and dedication did not go unnoticed, and I felt it was important to acknowledge the positive impact they had on us during such a challenging time.

Please extend my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Chris and the entire Section 7 team. They are a true credit to Garden City Hospital, and their kindness will remain with us long after this experience.
