Netcare Alberton Standard has significantly dropped!
On the evening of May 10th, 2024, I headed to Netcare Alberton Hospital due to severe abdominal pain. Arriving around 19:30 PM, I waited for half an hour before a file was opened for me. Two hours later, I was taken to the triage area, where nurses administered a drip to alleviate my discomfort. Despite this, my wait to see a doctor stretched until 2:30 AM the following day, May 11th, 2024. Frustrated by the prolonged delay, I eventually chose to leave and seek help elsewhere.
Throughout my time at the hospital, there was a significant lack of communication regarding the reason for the delay. Each time I inquired, I was simply reassured that the doctor would see me soon, but there was no sign of a doctor. The attitude of the staff lacked empathy, seemingly resigned to the situation due to an influx of patients. This lack of empathy and communication left me feeling disregarded and frustrated.
As someone who invests in medical aid for the convenience and quality of private healthcare, my experience at Netcare Alberton Hospital was disappointing. The disparity between private and public healthcare seemed nonexistent during my ordeal, with standards appearing to have declined significantly. It was evident that patient care was not a priority.
