Netcare Alberton horrific experience
a towel left by the physiothe****** in the morning, as there were no paper towels in the dispenser. I left the towel next to the basin, as there was no other location to deposit used towels. I then noticed that the toilet seat was covered with blood streaks, and contained a crack in its plastic material. I then called for a Janitor in order to sanitise the bathroom, to which she rep**** "I have cleaned it in the morning". I then accompanied her to the bathroom, and showed and explained to her what had to be sanitised. I once again felt nauseous 2 hours later, and vomited in the basin,This time I noted that the toilet seat was lifted, and noted that the blood streaks was still present on the underside of the seat. The Janitor only cleaned the top of the toilet seat, and the used towel was still next to the basin. I once again called for a Janitor to perform the same function. My son came to visit me, and pointed to the bed's metal cabinet that contained rust at its base. This condition is not conducive to a sound hygiene practice. When visiting hours had elapsed, I pressed the red button on the bed's remote, due to blood accumulating in my intravenous drip. Mpho came and cleared the drip feed, and I asked her about the change of lunch option in their kitchen. She then asked me what happened and I explained that the incorrect order was left at my bed, and after consuming it, I was quite ill and vomited. After changing my theatre gown, she stated that Dr. Jordaan wanted me to have this option, in order to ascertain if I was allergic to the antibiotic given to me intravenously. I then said to Mpho to please request that Dr. Jordaan see me at his earliest convenience. Dr, Jordaan came to see me during visiting time, and in front of Mpho I stated that she accused him of changing my diet, for the above-mentioned reason. Dr. Jordaan then said to Mpho that this matter is between Mpho, and the kitchen representative. and left. Lindiwe then came in with Mpho and confirmed Mpho's explanation, that Dr. Jordaan get's involved in changing his patient's dietary needs.. I then said it would have been good manners, if I was informed of this change. A lady with a beige uniform came and enquired to my discomfort, and I started at the beginning, the vacant nurse control station and the unfortunate man. She then requested my timeline at the hospital's reception, and I questioned why she required this information, to which she rep**** that I didn't know that this is the busiest time of ward 2. I then wanted to know why Dr. Jordaan communicated the time of admission, at 6.00 clock. I then became quite emotional, and asked her to please leave, as her defensive attitude would only worsen the situation. I wasn't presented with the dinner, ordered with the kitchen's representative, in the morning. I then queried the reason why I wasn't presented with dinner..to which the kitchen's lady rep**** because I was involved in an argument with Mpho, and she will be back soon. She never returned and I didnt get dinner that night. I then called for a nurse, in order to contact Dr. Jordaan to either transfer me to another facility, or to send me home. The answer came back that if I leave, it will be on my own accord. I then decided to stay. Lesia then introduced himself to me, as he is part of the night shift and will be caring for ward 11, His attitude displayed a need to be in the moment, and he performed his task impeccably. The care that this man displayed is of world class standard, and I believe that he would be an asset to any organisation. I then tried to sleep but couldn't, due to the hospital's staff's constant audible conversations. The voice decibel level only incleased thoughout the night, only to die down in the late morning. I didn't sleep at all, due to the staff's unmannered behavior, as described above. The physiothe****** visited me, and cleared me for release from the hospital. Dr Jordaan came into the ward, and explained that he investigated the left hand side of my hernia, and this side was in order. I then stated that Mpho and Lindiwe said that he has changed my meal order, to hi-fibre. I questioned Dr. Jordaan why he never disclosed this issue with me. Dr. Jordaan then rep**** "don't be petty, and that he doesn't have to communicate everything to me". I then rep**** that it is only sound manners, and I would like to know what I can expect at meal times. This is to prevent wastage, as I do not consume all food options. He then handed me a medicine prescription, and provided me with an appointment date, for the 4th November 2022, on a business card. I was then served with breakfast, which I didn't order, and noted it was soft maize meal porridge. I closed the serving dish, as I do not eat this option. I then dressed and proceeded to meet my son, and was stopped at the nurses control station, and a matron stopped me, and wanted to know the reason for my discomfort . I stated that I don't want to enter into any conversation with her, as I haven't received any meal. I also didn't get any sleep, due to the ward's staff's rowdy conversation noise level. A man then joined this conversation, and agreed whole hartedly with me, with regards to the rowdy noise level during the night. I stated that I would communicate my discomfort with Necare management I then went home. When I arrived at Dr.Jordaan's consulting rooms on the 4th November 2022 at 11h30, I noted that there were three patients in his waiting room. I announced myself, to which the reception lady rep**** that my name isn't in the dairy. I then stated that this is highly unprofessional, to which she rep**** that I mustn't be rude. I then presented her with the appointment card that Dr. Jordaan gave me on the 25th October 2022. Dr. Jordaan then saw me at 12h30, and I then questioned why he didn't enter my appointment in his diary. To which he rep**** that he doesn't believe that he gave me an appointment card, and I then also presented him with the card. He then apologised for everything. It is my belief that the staff that was exposed to me, except for Lesia, considered patients as a disturbance to their daily routine, and displayed a non care attitude. I had two spinal operations at the Life Wilgeheuwel hospital during 2015, and 2017, and the following are their operation practices; Patients are requested to bathe with Bioscrub, and you have to sign a hospital document, as confirmation of your compliance. If any patient is unable to bathe, the hospital staff will be of assistance to them. All bathroom/toilet facilities were cleaned after each use. All patient caring personnel were courteous, and focused on their tasks. The nightly conversation sound level was acceptable, aiding the recovery process. Patient's meals were delivered as ordered. The following is an urgent request to Netcare's management; I do not require any apology or excuses regarding the above matter, but an appeal to your management team, to redefine the reason for your business's existence, I have read your mission statement, and you did not deliver on any of your objectives, during my stay at Netcare Alberton hospital.. Patients are humans that are currently being challenged by a condition that has to be corrected by a medical procedure. If you cannot provide a customer centred caring service, please gracefully close the doors to this facility, in order to bar patients from the current unhealthy environment. You have to realise that patients have a choice to their facility of care, and being conveniently situated close to home, will no longer be one of your strengths. You may unfortunately also become a patient one day, requiring care..
