Netcare 911's ****gery ways.
Hi. On 19th Dec 2018 I had an unfortunate incident, I was hit by a Gautrain bus on my right leg at 11h30 in Sandton. I had never been involved in an accident before, this was very traumatic for me. While I was struggling to walk, the Gautrain staff assisted me and told me they'd organize an ambulance. They asked me whether I had medical aid and wanted to know my employment status too. I informed them that I am unemployed and have no medical aid, a few minutes later an ambulance came to pick me up and sent me to Alexander Clinic nearby. While I was in the ambulance nursing the excrutiating pain on my leg, the staff member told me I would be billed for this service since I was in a private Ambulance owned by Netcare, to which I protested: "why did the Gautrain staff not inform me beforehand?" They knew I was unemployed and had no medical aid, why then request a private service without informing me, only to be told once inside the ambulance that I'd be required to pay? I did not personally request this service, nor was I in a state of mind to do so. Shortly after I was released from hospital Netcare kept on sending me threatening messages insisting I should pay urgently or face consequences. I ignored the messages but they kept on coming. I then called Netcare to voice my displeasure, I spoke to a lady called Dalsy who asked me to send an affidavit stating that I'm unemployed and have no medical aid etc and state what actually happened on the day. I did likewise and sent an affidavit via email to ********** To my amazement to date I have received no acknowledgement of that affidavit instead Netcare has continued to threaten, intimidate and bully me via SMS insisting I should pay. I do not take kindly to this and I want Netcare to know that I will leave no stone unturned to fight for my rights during this trying time. I have a lifetime injury which I should be nursing but Netcare couldn't be bothered about that, instead they want me to put on my boxing gloves.....guess what I don't mind as long as you keep on threatening me, I know my rights and I will fight for them! How do you expect me to pay for a service that I was essentially trapped into? None of you(Gautrain plus yourselves) informed in advance that a private ambulance would be coming and thus I would have to pay. Your staff members only told me that whilst inside the ambulance halfway to Hospital. You knew upfront that I was unemployed and had no medical aid hence you took me to a government clinic yet you expect me to pay R2000 for your service? If this is the way you do business, then you should be ashamed of yourselves, and the rest of South Africa needs to know about your *********, ****gery ways! You capitalize on injured victims pain, it is cruel and unbecoming!
