Hello Peter netcare911 Refusal to assist covid 19 pneumonia patient.

On the 11/8/2021 both my husband and I tested positive for Covid. On the Saturday 14/8/2021 my husband was diagnosed with covid pneumonia, memory loss , oxygen saturation 72%,blood in the urine, no taste and smell. We called netcare 911 for an ambulance.Ref *** time 10.52am. NB we had called the paramedics after consultation with a cardiologist, 2 Drs & our local pharmacist. 5.Paramedics refused to take my husband to hospital. Said they only take one to hospital if their oxygen saturation is under 14% or in an unconscious state. 6.My husband s condition deteriorated. 7. He was literally dying in-front of my 7 and 10 year old sons. 8.out of desperation I contacted a dr that was prepared to do a house call. 9. He called immediately for an ambulance ref of operator 5487. 10. Ambulance ref number *** time 5.35 pm. 10.Sonja ( is the name she introduced herself as ) together with the 2nd paramedic. They come from Sunward park hospital. 11.I said a silent prayer in hope that this time we will get someone to help my dying husband. 12. To my shock & disappointment, Saturday with netcare 911 just repeated itself! However Sonja was rude arrogant and bombastic! 13.She said my husband s oxygen saturation was fine at 70 %because it’s expected in Covid patients. It’s normal for memory loss. As for the blood in the urine just a side effect of covid . 14. She accused the dr and I of wasting their time ! She said a normal dose of prednisone and antibiotics would do the trick . 15 . She said just another GP who knows nothing. She Sonja knows Everything. 16. I begged her to call Dr M Vahed , who had placed the call for the ambulance. 17. She refused point blank. So I sent Dr Vahed a wats app message. 18. God works in mysterious ways, Dr Vahed called back immediately and demanded to speak to the paramedics & threatened to report her if she refused to take his call. 19. Dr Vahed wasted no time in listening to Sonjas uneducated, ill informed & useless information and what she thought!!! 20. He simply asked her are you a qualified dr ? No!!! YOU ARE A PARAMEDIC!! DO YOUR JOB &STOP YOUR NONSENSE! YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO REFUSE TO TAKE MY PATIENT TO HOSPITAL!!!I WILL REPORT YOU! 21.Sonja cut the call , red faced asked my husband if he could walk? & that He must hold onto the wall and walk to the ambulance parked outside because she can’t get a stretcher down the stairs!!! 22.Without waiting for an a response from my husband she marched off to wait outside the ambulance. 23.I carried my husband s night bag in the ***** of my arm , asked him to put his arm around me so that I could try and support his weight and slowly we descended the stairs. At the bottom of the stairs I stopped to catch my breath. 24. My husband was feeling very dizzy and starting to loose consciousness. 25. I half dragged and carried him into the ambulance. 26. I live in a town house complex, so the neighbours ors were shocked that the paramedics were not assisting us or putting him on a stretcher!!! 27. I warded everyone away as I told them don’t help we have COVID 19. 28 when I requested the full names of the paramedics, Sonja and her accomplice. They refused point blank. She informed me that she was studying to become a doctor!! I wished her luck and in my heart my sympathy laid them with her future patient s , because clearly she has no empathy 29 . I rep****, it’s alright I will take a photo of your number plate & I have the reference number to report your cruel , unkind & unprofessional manner in which you have just conducted yourself. 30 . The Registration number is JL 43 MM GP. Time was now 31. I tried to console my 7 year old who was traumatised and crying for his daddy , because daddy is dying that’s why the ambulance is here .. 32. Whilst hugging my 10 year old whose eyes were filled with tears . 33. As God is my witness, I decided to report the incident, so I called time was now 7.08 Pm 34. I spoke to Earnest wanting to lay a complaint and to find out which hospital were they taking my husband too and what where the paramedics full names . 35 . Earnest put me on hold , whilst he chatted to Sonja. 36. He smugly responded that my husband will be going to the Glynwwood. 37 . He is NOT ILL therefore he will be attended to LAST. And according to the paramedics the stairs were too narrow! So I asked him about the assistance just fro the bottom of the stairs to the ambulance outside , in full view of all our neighbours?!! And Earnest was at a loss for words . And as per protocol he is not allowed to give me their as I could go to hello Peter . He also to call back tomorrow at 8am and speak to customer service as paramedics change shift at 6.30 for the evening round . 38 . Thank you Dr at Glynwwood for attending to my husband at 10.38 pm. 39. Sonja my husband is in the ICU. 40. His oxygen saturation levels were so low that they had to put him on a high flow pure oxygen. 41. He has 3 drips attached to him. 42. Glynwwood is still carrying out tests regarding the blood in the urine and have sent for a specialist. 43 HE Has severe covid 19 pneumonia with infection spreading to the other lung . 44. The dr managed to stabilise him and he is in the ICU on the 4th FLOOR in Glynwwood. He was finally admitted at 00.38 minutes this morning. 45. The Dr said that my husband is only alive by the Grace of God , the prayers of his family and his two sons & THe sheer perseverance of his wife who stood her ground and demanded help for the father of her two sons. I hope that by me taking a stand , many other lives can be saved if people just did their jobs correctly. At the end of the day we all working so hard and trying to do our best for our loved ones and for other families loved ones . I am going to pray for Sonja her companion s and Sean and the other paramedic that came out on Saturday. Sean was at least pleasant to talk to, not rude arrogant and bombastic. And I’m going to pray all the sick people in the world. May Allah/ God show mercy on them and cure them of all their illnesses. Ameen. My husband is admitted to Glynwwood ICU, Covid 19 pneumonia. His oxygen saturation was too low and he has a very bad lung infection that has spread to both his lungs. Memory loss. No taste and smell. Blood in his urine . His in the ICU ward 4th floor. I spoke to dr DUbe . 1 aamir has a very bad case of Covid 19 pneumonia .2.The other lung is also very badly infected. 3. Currently 4 surgeons are trying to find the best way to re-construct the damaged cells of the lungs & are discussing different options . 5, Aamirs lung saturation is currently sitting on 50% with the high flow pure oxygen 6 .He had breakfast, underwent more tests and wants to be a good role model for his boys. He needs time to heal and as less stress as possible. After the lungs the drs will adress the other major concerns like , blood in the urine , short term memory loss etc . But we are tay1 day at a time trying to pick up the pieces and get back to the land of the living . Covid has proven its greatest truth , IF YOU HAVE HEALTH, you are BLESSED. So Take care of yourself . Don’t be so hard on yourself. We all make mistakes, what’s important is what we learn from these mistakes, so that we don’t repeat it And that equals growth and change.We can learn to embrace it. The only constant in our lives is CHANGE —————1. JazKallah for all the positive messages, sincere concern & love and support & duaas . / 2. Good news . I spoke to pEeds ICU Glynwood. 3. Shukraan Aamir is sitting on the chair . 4.he ate breakfast and is very worried about his wife ,because I also have Covid 19pneumonia.and he is worried ,that he will never hear the end of —Not listening ? to me and that he has ears like patatoes?♀️???♀️?5. They have him on 40% low flow pure oxygen and the cells in the lungs are recrupreraiting. They are creating cultures to help the air sack recover . Currently they have managed his oxygen saturation on the machine to 80%. He has 4 pulmonologist s researching his case 6 .Aamir is in good spirits, smiling & the burning in the brain has ceased 7. We are still awaiting results of the blood in the urine and from the blood tests . 8.he has no taste or smell because of covid 19. NB the drs cannot guarantee that it will return within 9 months from now or at all !!!10 .depending on the pneumonia and how well the lung sack cells start to heal ,Aamir could be transferred to a normal ward in 3 days from today , inshallah. 11. His short term memory loss is slowly returning. 12. The ICU nurses are keeping a close eye on him and trying to revive his memory with specific questions and tests . 13.He is missing home and sends salaams and duaas to everyone 12. He is also asking for Maaf if he has hurt or wronged anyone. 13 Raees& Rizvaan are ? % in good health Shukar. They will be out of isolation on Saturday Inshallah. 14. A special jazakallah to everyone, ( I wish to leave no one out intentionally) my parents, family, neighbors, friends, people that we know , people that we don’t know, have gone out of their way to support and call & aid & assist & be kind , humble, empathetic, gentle , offering advice , sacrificing their times to assist us, or pick up or meds or to pick clothing , or Oximetre s or offering food and sending duaas of hope and calling to find out about us , may Allah reward each and everyone of you all abundantly. May Allah grant all your duaas . May Allah keep you and your loved ones safe . And to us you all answers to duaas . Angels from up above . Shukraan. Lots of love and duaas Aamir, Raees & Rizvaan & Fatima——————-Latest update 9.41pm spoke to Maui. 1 Aamir Is back on high flow oxygen 50% . 2 his oxygen saturation levels is at 75% while on the machine. 3. Ate supper , 4 Stil awaiting results of the blood and the urine tests .5 . Aamirs is missing home but is happy to be able to breathe a little better and knows he is Good hands ?. Ameen. His lungs are still very damaged with Covid 19 pneumonia and the infection on the other collapsed lung is showing promise , of the healing of the air sacks inside the lung to mend and recuperate. They are taking it one day at a time . No rush . Their mission is to try and heal Aamir to the best of their ability so that he can rejoin his wonderful supportive family. Ps Aamir says that covid 19 has given him a new perspective of life . Never will he procrastinate. & now he will take good care of himself so that he can be there for family , friends and who ever needs assistance. And he will never take anyone for granted again .People shout and get angry and emotional, not out of spite but out of love for you . So cherish them . They are very few of these angels . There are others all alone …so smile , & practice being kind to to ourselves and everyone else.It all starts with you . Only you can make this change if you want to. It has to come from you . Pride comes before a fall.
