Negligence, lack of transparency and disregard for patient concerns

My experience at Blaauwberg Netcare Hospital was deeply disappointing. My privacy was breached when the receptionist failed to update my personal information and my information about my er visit was sent to a third party, and a test was performed without informing me or obtaining proper consent. On top of that, I was assured twice by the receptionist (first a phone call to the er reception prior to going to the er and second a verbal confirmation in person upon arrival to the er) that my medical aid option covered me in the ER. Based on that double confirmation, I went ahead with the visit, only to later be billed for costs I was explicitly told would be covered. Upon further investigation I discovered my medical aid plan is not networked with the hospitals casualty unit. I would never have gone through with the visit had I known the truth. Of course in crisis you don't have time to properly search to see for yourself if your medical aid is networked with certain doctors/hospitals and you will rely on the information provided by the professionals who should be properly trained at the facility you may visit !! To make matters worse, when I complained, I received no response to my first phone call. My follow-up email eventually got a generic “sorry you weren’t satisfied” reply that felt automated and dismissive. This kind of negligence, lack of transparency, and disregard for patient concerns is unacceptable.

Dear Teagan-Lee. I am sorry that you did not have a good experience at our hospital, and I hope you are recovering well. I will share your feedback with the relevant manager for follow up. Take care, Kamo
