Negligence at Netcare Kingsway Hospital Pharmacy - Amanzimtoti
My daughter was hospitalized at Netcare Kingsway Hospital in Durban-Amanzimtoti on 30 March 2018 till 02 April 2018. After being discharged my wife went to collect medication prescribed at the hospital pharmacy on 02 April 2018 but the pharmacist said it cannot be dispatched since they have a problem with our medical aid (GEMS) and the pharmacist advised that we should get the medication at other pharmacy (Dis-chem or Clicks ) at the nearby mall.
I then went at another pharmacy Dis-chem in Galleria Mall but terribly when I got there they advised that I cannot get the medication as it shows it's been captured and claimed at some pharmacy and they tried to call the Kingway hospital pharmacy but were unreachable or closed.
On 3 April 2018 I then went to another pharmacy in Pietermaritzburg as I reside there at Clicks they also told me the same thing that my medical aid does not allow processing and dispensing the prescribed medication as it shows it been dispatched or recently claimed somewhere else .
I then immediately called the Kingsway hospital pharmacy and spoke to a lady called Vasie or Vivian, I explained to her and she required my medical aid number 4 times but could not pick anything up on their system and later took down my daughter's case number and picked up. Surprisingly when I asked why they have not cancelled on their system she said nothing shows I then boldly highlighted to her after she mentioned that their systems have been down for two days (02 & 03 April 2018), I asked her then why did they capture my daughter prescription as it shown that the medication have been dispatched by them while we never received it and now for two days my daughter has been out of medication and I cannot get it anywhere due to their negligence and I had to pay for parking and now no longer at the vicinity of Durban where the Kingsway hospital pharmacy is. I personally explained to the pharmacist that what they have done was unacceptable and she should investigation ASAP and get back to me by today 03 April 2018, the pharmacist did not show any sense of urgency but later took my details because pressured her and she was rushing to close.
