Neglect and Lack of Communication: A Devastating Experience with Dr. Johan Markram at Unitas Hospital

I'm writing to express my deep disappointment and frustration with the care I received from Dr. Johan Markram at Unitas Hospital . After being diagnosed with a miscarriage, I was admitted and prepared for a procedure. However, I was not adequately informed about what would happen or what to expect.

On admission, the nurses kept telling me that the Dr would be the one to explain what would happen and what procedure needed to be done .

Dr Markram briefly spoke to me before the procedure, but I didn't see him again afterward.

The procedure was around 6am and despite waiting all day, I was eventually discharged without any feedback or guidance on what to do next.

The nurses couldn't provide me with any information, and it was only when they checked my drip that they told me I had been discharged.

I was told that the nurses had been trying to get hold of Dr Markram all day with no success.

I felt devastated, abandoned, and failed by the doctor. I had no closure, no answers to my questions, and no guidance on how to manage my recovery.

I was forced to leave the hospital without having seen a Dr or being told how the procedure had gone .

To make matters worse, I had to visit my GP on Monday to request a report on the procedure from Dr Markram's office , which was written in Afrikaans. I was shocked and frustrated that I had to seek interpretation from another doctor to understand what had happened.

I believe that pre- and post-counseling would have made a significant difference in my experience. Instead, I felt like I was left to navigate a difficult situation alone. I'm still trying to process my feelings and come to terms with what happened. I had to wait 2 weeks to process and write this review .

I hope that the hospital will take my complaint seriously and take steps to improve their care and communication.
