Near Miss

Yesterday evening (05/23/2017) my 3 year old had acute allergic reaction, rushed him to Netcare Mulbaton hospital. The EN did her basics, triaged us and got us a cubicle ready.

Like me, she prioritized us as emergency. In the cubicle we were seen to by a male RN

who was just concerned that there were stickers printed on the file, chose to go find the stickers and got back to fiddle with the file.

No vitals done except for the sats and haemogluco test at triage, we are waiting for consultation. The child is swelling now and asking for cold water, I'm fanning him with his

clothing while my brother runs to the waiting room where he saw foam cups for water.

My child says he wants to vomit, I asked the aloof RN for a receptable, waltzed out and came back after a good few minutes. No checking of the vomitus by him...no.

At this stage I felt my child's pulse getting very weak, spiking temperature and whizzing.

I got scared the eyes were swelling shut, laboured breathing and on enquiry the RN said the doctor is seeing somebody else. The priority triaged didn't mean nothing in that ER so I took it upon me to run out with my child to get help outside the hospital, get an antihistamine to open his airway till I got to another hospital.

I nearly lost my baby in Netcare Mulbarton ER, it hurts and no one cared.
