My horror birth story

As I was entering into the Montana Labour Hospital I felt like I was entering into a morgue. Maybe my intuition, I don't know. I was induced for labour pain and the night nurse was okay. I had to ask her how far along I was before, she could tell me I was 2 cm. Then the morning shift took over. A nurse introduced herself and checked for dilation at 9:00. She left and to set with the others at reception and returned at about 13:00. I was in pain but not that much and saw no need to scream or cry out for help. I had to use the toilet and my fear was the baby dropping into it because I did not how far I was. When she checked my dilation I was at 8cm. I had to walk from the labour room to the delivery room. My fear was what if I dilated to 9cm while walking and couldn't control the edge to push and the baby would fall to the ground. It was a short distance but somehow it felt like a kilometer. By the time I lay on the delivery bed I felt the edge to push during that time that was only when they prepared the delivery equipment. The Doctor was not informed in time because they suddenly discovered I was 8 cm and quickly progressed to 9cm. The birth process was quick but what amazed me was all the nurses off the ward came to watch. I think there was more than 6 nurses. Was that really necessary? The Dr then came to stitch me. Honestly the Doctor was not the problem. They never informed him to come on time. He is a great Doctor.

After the delivery I was shown the baby covered in a towel that it was girl. The nurse said my baby does not have a lower lip and left it that. She was not worried that the baby could not breastfeed without a lower lip. Well I instinctively knew she ha d one and had her father's lips which he occasionally tucked under the lower lip. I just left it at that.

The weird part is a nurse came every morning at 3 to take the baby and check her. She did this I think for 3 days. I never thought much about it. But when I got home I realized the other woman's baby sleeping in my room was never taken. I had difficulty sleeping during that time.Taking somebody's baby at 3:00 sounds very occultic. I was never told the test results or what they were testing for.

I am a first time Mom and they don't teach you anything but bathing the baby. Am I supposed to teach a nurse how to do their job. How do I breastfeed. I knew theory but I needed a little help. It seemed as if the nurses were cozy at the reception because that is where they spend most of their time.

I was induced at 38 weeks and white nurses kept reminding me that she was tiny baby. I mean really at 2700 g at birth that is normal , if I had stayed until 40 weeks the baby could have reached maybe 3000 something. It seemed as if they felt some shame for the baby. Never had time to explain, if you checked my file you could have known the reason why.

I went to where I had to sleep without the baby. I had to wait for more than an hour to get my baby. They never explained what they were doing, I supposed doing examinations. But why am I left to assume. They brought the baby back and told me she had a birth mark on her arm. Never saw it after birth because she was wrapped in a towel. During that time she was still wrapped in a towel and I was told not to dress her. The baby started shivering and I asked to dress her and the nurse said no. I think the baby was dressed after 2 hours. What if she could have died of hypothermia.

Another nurse had the odercity to tell me they should get paid for the delivery because the Doctor came late, well you created that problem. Go talk to the Doctor.

Another nurse spoke Afrikaans with me. I just answered randomly at her question. Then the black nurses explained what she meant. If you act like that I don't have any desire to communicate with you. What a turn off.

I am on my Mother's medical Aid and I am not working. So I randomly selected clothes at Pep which were on sale. The staff nurse demanded matching clothes. In my mind they matched. But for her they didn't. Went to my back to appease the Fashion Police.

One more thing. One nurse had the guts to ask me why I waited so long to have a baby because I was older. How do you know I met idiots and couldn't have children with them, how do you know I didn't want to have children to please strangers at young age who had no hand in raising them. Some people think you should have a baby while you are young, forget poverty, forget malnutrition, forget useless biological fathers, forget securing an education, forget fertility issues. How do you know I was preparing a future where my children would not be malnourished and starve to death.

All I want say is say your prayers to Jehova before going into this hospital because you need divine intervention. This hospitals spiritual alignment, we will never know.
