My experience in post natal ward
I was admitted on 03/10/24 for laparoscopic surgery at Garden City Netcare Hospital. Prior to surgery when the nurse asked me all the questions prior to surgery such as any chronic illnesses pulmonary issues diabetes etc., the nurse couldn’t read most of the questions and had to skip a few because she couldn’t pronounce them which is a vital part to prior to surgery I then went on to let her show me her iPad so I could see what the questions were myself as she could not and it is her job! Post surgery when I was back in post natal ward, nurses were extremely careless, they never checked up on me even though I couldn’t walk there was no help from them, I rather had to call my mother to help me. When pressing the alarm button to call for the nurses they take over 10 minutes to come and see extremely nonchalant. My vitals were not taken on time and nurses were rather making conversations in the passages and disturbing my sleep. When they would come to the rooms to check up on other patients who did other surgeries they would make a loud noise and talk really loudly, breaking my sleep and making me miserable. Nurses in the the post natal ward are extremely nonchalant and don’t have a passion for their job or any form of care to the patients. Overall good and Doctors were amazing but I’m truly disappointed and disgusted at the nurses.
