MISSING PATIENT WEDDDING RINGS

My mother was admitted at Netcare The Bay hospital, for a routine checkup. Her condition changed and then she was moved to ICU1.

On the 29th of July 2020 around 5:30pm we received a call from Sister Gumede telling us that things are not well and at this point they let the family know. We asked to come to Hospital and we were allowed to come. At the ward, we were with Sister Gumede, we saw my mother, and she had passed, she was still wearing her earrings, however we noted that the wedding rings were not there. Sister Gumede who was with us all the time, also saw that the wedding rings are not there and she said she was going to ask the other shift about the rings. Sister Gumede gave us my mother's other belongings on the day.

My brother came to The Bay hospital the following day, and he queried about the rings and he was told Sister Ntshangase will check and contact us back. We were not contacted back regarding the rings as a result we then contacted Hospital PRO Sindy Mthethwa concerning the missing rings. Sindy asked that we write a formal complaint in an email that she was going to lodge with Netcare group. We wrote the email on 14 August 2020 to Sindy and she emailed us back a reference for the compliant which was: NTC***

After that, we have been emailing the Hospital PRO asking about the rings and status of the resolution, but Hospital PRO Sindy Mthethwa has not been responding to emails or phone calls.

We need our Mom's wedding rings as this holds immeasurable value, we need these rings back or the Netcare The Bay Hospital must discuss with the family how they (The Hospital) will compensate the family for the rings.
