It does get worse - Netcare Waterfall
Netcare Waterfall - Sunday evening I had the leisure of needing the emergency room, I got to the hospital at 18:38 and was in triage with Kamogelo at 18:30, I eventually got a bed 30 minutes let. I was attended by a nurse Kay Ndlovu, who had no compassion… I got to the room 5 and noted there were stains on the linen and he said they were rust stains. He stated he can’t insert drip while I was standing from my sever backache I sat on the stains with my gown on, there was nurse Catherine too to draw blood while Mr Ndlovu inserted the drip, it was painless and my blood gusted into the linen, my gown, nightie, shoes and socks. Nonchalant he asks if he should change the bed and I said yes, I had bled into the bed and he just changed the cover without wiping the bed that had a my stain. I still couldn’t sit from the pain, I lended onto the bed only to realise there was more blood on my left arm, he noted this and continued about his evening. His ignorance on being pre diabetic, allergies and Ozempic were worrying to say the least. He walks back in five minutes later that X-rays are required and leaves, a minute or so later he shouts from the corridor in Zulu “lady in room five we waiting for you to go to xray”, he comes to the door, undoes my drip and I asked for alcohol swabs as I was nauseous and he just pointed to the side cupboard, I opened I got two and left for X-rays. I came back and reminded him for the fourth time to please call my husband and to get me water, 20 minutes later he hadn’t so I just walked out of room to get my husband. Got back in and 10 minutes late he hadn’t come back to connect my drip so I put it in and ran the line myself. Ntombi walked in for an ECG and the short interaction I had with her was lovely, I went on to inform her I ran the drip and she was fine with it. Doctor came in discussed my results, then said she wants a Covid test done too. This wasn’t initially actioned and I could hear the doctor asking why it wasn’t done, a younger man came in to do the swab and I asked how long it would take and he said 2 minutes bare in mind the emergency department was not as busy as it was then as when I walked in, this always about 21:15 at 23:15, no one had come to discuss the Covid swab, script or sick note. I un*****ed my drip and I left, walked past a few nurses sitting there, got to my car and went home. At midnight I got a call from the clerk and he asked if I was in the building, I said no then he said but the doctor has not discussed the results with you and I said I wasn’t willing to wait any longer then I had. I briefly narrated this back to him and he said “so you are angry?” And I said; no my pain is no more however I’m disappointed with the service and he said you can come back and we can “talk” and I knew then that I’m never coming back. The Monday morning I went to see my GP and I’m she had me admitted at Sunninghill, it’s safe to say that regardless of how close this hospital is to my house and I’ve had lovely emergency room visits before that this one leaves me with a bitter taste.
