Incorrect ER Diagnosis of Toddler at Umhlanga Hosp

We travelled to Durban from Jhb on holiday and our 4 year toddler became ill on Saturday 23 May 2015 at 2am in the morning with a high fever. We gave a fever suppository and gave her a bath with tepid water to bring the fever down but it kept spiking to 38 or 39 degrees every 3 hours. At 10.30am we decided to leave to Umhlanga hospital emergency unit to get her treated and obtain the apt medication before driving back to Jhb the next morning. We were attended to very rapidly. The young black female doctor that attended to the little girl did not diagnose her correctly. She said we must treat the fever with alternate doses of fever medication and suppositories (Empaped) every 4 hours. Our toddler was wheezing as well but so she prescribed Aspelone and Prospan. She has had chest infections before which warranted antibiotics but none were prescribed. Nor was she nebulized. The fever remained high every few hrs. The fever was treated and not the cause. We treated her in Jhb the next day for a urine infection and a chest infection. Antibiotics were prescribed and she was nebulised. After almost 10 days she is better. If we had left it, we don't know what would have happened.
