HOSPITAL NEGLIGENCE

I was admitted on 16 March 2023. (Netcare Alberton Hospital)

Firstly, I had to wait 3.5 Hours to be admitted as there were no beds available. This was after my GP called the doctor at the hospital before 09:00 advising that he wants me to be admitted.

On Thursday evening they gave me a Sodium Chloride drip, immediately I got chest pain and started coughing. When I called the nurse, she said it is nothing, it is only water. After doing some research, this is a side effect. The nurse did not show any concern for the distress I was feeling regarding these symptoms, she just walked away.

On Friday I noticed the name on the bottle (medication in my drip) was not my name. When I advised the nurse that it was not me, she just said it could be that I have the same medication as another patient and the labels were mixed up.

I discharged myself on Saturday morning due to negligence and risking my life there. They let me go without any medication or knowing what is wrong.
