Hospital account by Milpark Hospital

I am writing to express my deep frustration and disappointment regarding the handling of my hospital account by Milpark Hospital.

I was admitted from 21 August 2023 to 22 August 2023, for what was initially communicated to me as a one-week admission period. Prior to my admission, GEMS approved my authorisation request on 15 August 2023. However, since my discharge, there has been an ongoing issue with the hospital submitting incorrect claim codes to GEMS.

GEMS has clearly indicated that they are willing to settle the account, but cannot do so because the hospital continues to use the wrong billing codes. Despite numerous calls and follow-ups from both myself and GEMS, Milpark Hospital has failed to correct and resubmit the claim appropriately.

What is even more concerning is that instead of resolving the matter, the hospital has proceeded to issue a court judgment against me. This is extremely unfair, considering the delay and non-payment are not due to any fault on my side, but rather the hospital’s failure to comply with the correct billing procedures.

Additionally, the collections department has been unresponsive and unhelpful. They repeatedly take messages and promise to return my calls, but never follow through. This lack of communication and accountability has caused unnecessary stress and frustration.

I kindly request that Milpark Hospital urgently correct the billing codes and resubmit the claim to GEMS so that this matter can be resolved promptly.

I trust that this issue will receive the urgent attention it deserves.

Kind regards, Thato Mocoancoeng
