EXTREMELY SERIOUS COMPLAINT – MY CREDIT PROFILE HAS BEEN ADVERSELY AFFECTED BY AN ACCOUNT I DISPUTE BEING PERSONALLY LIABLE FOR

I am absolutely shocked and deeply concerned by the way Netcare has handled this matter.

This is no longer a simple complaint about poor customer service or an incorrect hospital statement. I have discovered an adverse collection listing on my credit profile arising from a hospital account that I dispute ever being personally responsible for.

My involvement was that I brought a sick child to the hospital for medical attention. I am not the medical aid owner/principal member.

Yet somehow, I am the person who has ended up with this collection reflected against my credit profile.

What makes this situation even more alarming is that the collection correspondence itself identifies another person as the customer, not me.

How does an account identifying another person as the customer end up adversely affecting my credit profile?

I RAISED PROBLEMS WITH NETCARE BEFORE THIS ESCALATED

For months, I experienced problems accessing the statements Netcare sent to me.

The statements were password protected and my own identification details could not open them.

I communicated this problem to Netcare.

Instead of this raising an immediate concern about whether the correct person and personal information were linked to the account, the matter eventually progressed to debt collection.

I have now discovered the consequences on my credit profile.

THE BALANCE REPORTED IS ALSO QUESTIONABLE

A substantial payment has already been made toward the account by the medical aid owner/principal member.

Despite this, the amount appearing on my credit report is significantly higher than the balance currently being demanded by the collection agency.

So I am now dealing with:

an account I dispute being personally liable for; collection correspondence identifying somebody else as the customer; previous statements that I could not access using my own identification details; a substantial payment that has already been made by the medical aid owner/principal member; different outstanding balances being reflected by the hospital/collector and the credit bureau; and an adverse collection listing appearing on my credit profile.

This is completely unacceptable and requires an urgent, senior-level investigation.

NETCARE MUST EXPLAIN HOW THIS HAPPENED

I am publicly asking Netcare to answer one fundamental question:

What documentary or contractual evidence do you have proving that I personally accepted financial responsibility for this hospital account?

If I supposedly accepted personal responsibility for this debt, then provide the document bearing my details and signature showing exactly where I agreed to become personally liable.

If such proof does not exist, then I want to know:

HOW DID THIS ACCOUNT END UP BEING HANDED OVER AGAINST ME AND ADVERSELY AFFECTING MY CREDIT PROFILE?

This is an extremely serious matter because a person's credit profile can affect their ability to obtain finance, access credit and conduct important financial transactions.

People's personal and financial information cannot simply be linked to accounts incorrectly and then allowed to progress to debt collection without proper verification.

I WANT ACTION – NOT A GENERIC RESPONSE

Please do not respond to this review with a generic apology or simply tell me to contact the debt collectors.

The debt collectors did not create the original hospital account.

I want Netcare to investigate its own records.

I want Netcare to establish:

who the actual account holder/responsible person is; how my personal information became associated with the account; what document allegedly makes me personally liable; why another person is identified as the customer in collection correspondence; why my previous complaints about inaccessible statements were not properly resolved; what information was supp**** to the credit bureau; why the credit bureau balance does not correspond with the amount currently being collected; and who authorised this account to be handed over against me.

I have retained the correspondence and obtained my credit report confirming the collection listing.

I am formally escalating this matter and expect Netcare to investigate, provide documentary proof, correct any inaccurate information and take immediate steps to rectify my credit profile where information has been incorrectly associated with me.

This has caused serious concern and potential financial prejudice.
