Double payments by Unitas Emergency Unit

I visited the Unitas Emergency unit on 20 August 2022 and was attended to by Dr Venter. After the consultation I was required to Pay R870.00 , apparently the portion not payable by my medical aid. A full account ( R1295.60 ) was submitted to my medical aid , which was subsequently paid to the emergence unit on 24 August 2022. This amount included the R870.00 which I had to pay.

I requsted a refund on 22 September 2022 and recived a notification that my account details hed to be confirmed for the refund. this was done but on 6th October I was told that refunds could not be made to credit card accounts. I paid the R870.00 from my credit account and it was quite obvious that this would be the account the refund is to be made to.

I submitted my current account details that same day and queried some days later as to when the refund would be made.

I am still waitinf for the refund.

This is not the first incident of this nature in our family and it seems the emegency unit is in the habit of double charging patients and medical aids. The contact person in the accounts department is Ms Siki Moyake, ( J3 Administrators Pty Ltd ) with telephone number ***.
