Don't have an emergency at Netcare
I live in Blaauwberg, a stone’s throw from the Nectare hospital.
This weekend, I took blood pressure medication which was too strong and passed out on the floor.
I woke up with my face bleeding profusely and a severe laceration on my left-hand gushing blood.
I went to your emergency department, bleeding profusely. I stood at reception for about ten minutes without as much as a hello. I eventually felt faint and had to go sit down, still bleeding everywhere.
My nephew then flagged someone down, who looked at me and their first question was, “does he have medical aid” (Which is do)! Followed by he will have to wait.
Half an hour later, I ran out of tissues to curb the blood and felt terrible.
I eventually left and went home and just patched myself as best I can. I did not have the strength anymore to go find another care facility.
Ther was no triage nurse, no sense of urgency and no “Care”.
I do not believe any of the other people there were in more urgent need for help at that minute. Walking out I complained to a nurse coming in, to which she rep****, sir we are very busy, still no offer to help with the bleeding at least.
I was glad being so near to a hospital as I am 61, but I am afraid, if I had a heart attack, your hospital is the very last place I want to be taken to.
