Dissapointed in Netcare Linmeds patient care

I have always had ups and down with Linmed Hospital, especially as I used to work as a paramedic in the area a few years back.

But has the hospital gone so bad that you pay private rates but feels almost like a state hospital where patient are left and not attended to as they should.

My Dad (67) has been in an out of that hospital for 3 months now, he was isolated after being discharged from ICU due to a ?super bug. He has slight dementia that was only noticed round that time. He also then had a stoma bag after a bowel rupture and that was another reason for his isolation.

He was recently re-admitted as he was unable to walk, talk or lift his arms to feed himself and seemed semi comatose. So they put him in a room by himself, by now his dementia has worsened at a tremendous pace, he does not know how to use a remote to call a nurse, if he is in pain he cannot tell anyone as they only take "vitals" every 4 hours, he had food stains all over his clothes and face of him trying to feed himself and the nurses/caregivers do not even feel a need to wipe his face. His stoma bags were changed daily instead of drained due to staff not knowing how to work with a stoma. He battles to communicate and talk and left all by himself. He has a heart arrhythmia but no monitors attached to alert them of any changes. Then gets discharged in such a state where he is still semi comatose.

The Dr suspected TIA or Seizures but no test were done to confirm this. So why use your medical aid and get expensive accounts that was not paid, for nothing that was really done.

Very disappointed with the way my father was treated and that no one can give you any info as the Dr has too but you could only get hold of him 5 days after admission!!!
