disgusting treatment
At approximately 1am on 8 January 2021 my father was taken to Greenacre's for a bleeding ulcer from which he was released on 3rd of January 2021 for the very same problem after being there for 4 days. only for them to deny treatment in emergency unit then they contacted my mother At 3 am to tell her that they require A R40 000 deposit before any treatment will be done they then proceeded to kick him out of the hospital at 08:30 without any treatment or pain relief even though they were told we were waiting for the bank to open at 09:00 to get payment done.
I am disgusted at this behaviour because firstly your website states as well as patient rights that: A healthy and safe environment Everyone has the right to a healthy and safe environment that will ensure their physical and mental health or well-being, including adequate water supply, sanitation and waste disposal as well as protection from all forms of environmental danger, such as pollution, ecological degradation or infection.
Secondly: Access to healthcare Everyone has the right of access to health care services that include:
Receiving timely emergency care at any health care facility that is open regardless of one's ability to pay;
I cannot believe that a hospital or the staff rather would deny a person medical attention in an emergency knowing what his patient file says.
I am sorry to say that going from a good experience last week to what has happened now I am completely shocked at this and disgusted. In his file clearly states his history and all the doctors notes and yet not a single thing was done to help him in the 7 hours that he was there.
We as a family are very disappointed at this and if anything should happen to him because of the neglect he experienced we will hold you responsible.
