DISGUSTING SERVICE AT NETCARE UNION HOSPITAL

On Sunday 9th September at approximately 10H30 my husband was bitten by a stray dog trying to stop a dog fight, I took him to the Netcare Union Hospital at approximately 12H00 as my husband had to wait for me to take him as he was not in a condition to drive.

On arrival I took him to the casualty and his blood pressure and temperature was taken, he was asked to wait in the already full waiting room and I went to open a file. This took about 30 minutes, I then went and waited with him. At about 14H30 I went to the casualty reception and asked how much longer we had to wait and was told to wait until we were called, I went to the main reception and asked to speak to a person in charge. The sister in section 1 came down to meet me at reception and said she would meet me in Casualty. She arrived just after my husband was called in and I was asked to wait in the waiting area, when the Manager came in she accompanied me to the ward where my husband was and it was chaos inside there. There were people taking photographs with patients that had been injured in the warrior race which took place at Rietvlei yet I was not allowed in. Then his chart with temperature and blood pressure could not be found. The Manager started to reprimand the staff there and asked what the delay is and why patients were not advised of the delay and they said there were only 2 doctors and there were 2 life threatening emergencies which I can understand but at least communicate with the patients, I could have gone to the Clinton or the Mulbarton if I knew how bad the Union service is. My husband was eventually given a tet**** injection and his wound cleaned and dressed and given a prescription for antibiotics and pain ****ers and was told to return today. He arrived today at 10H00 and was told to take a seat as he needed to open a new file, after waiting for 10 minutes he walked out. The service at the Union is disgusting and I will never go back there again.

My husband has been to see our Gp who has already attended and stitched the wound which should have been done yesterday.

My husband works for the Independent Newspapers and is going to have somebody write something about this disgusting service.
