Disgusted by N1 City Netcare
Net are N1 City is the worst I have ever experienced. First of all, my father was admitted to that mad house on Friday 2 September 2022. The staff at Trauma was quite fine and helpful. He was placed in ICU. During the admission process we were asked if he is allergic to anything. We informed them that he can by no means eat any red meat, due to severe gout. Keep in mind my dad is 81 years old, with heart problems. When we visited him the Saturday during evening visiting hours, he didn’t eat yet, and when I lifted the lid on his plate, guess what it was, mince stew (red meat). Luckily I caught it in time, and yet again informed the hospital staff abt his gout and ‘no red meat’. The Sunday he was transferred to F-ward. The worst and most *********** and most insensitive staff I have EVER encountered at a hospital. When we visited my dad the afternoon, he was heavily sedated and couldn’t wake up. They ascribed the heavy sedation to restlessness. During the course of the visiting period my dad became restless and started to scream of pain, pointing to his feet. My sister and I went to ask one of the nurses what they gave him for lunch. They said mince (red meat) and veggies. They said they didn’t know abt his condition. I asked for a marker to write on the bed board that patient eats no red meat. They gave me the marker and I wrote in bold letter “no ****** red meat”. No one responded to my dads painful cries. When my sister and I went to the buses again, they said the Are contacting the doctor. Very calmly and nonchalantly. As we were abt to leave, since visiting hours was over, my brother in law called a staff member and we told her of our disappointment in their service. Keep in mind it was already passed visiting hours and my brother in law causes us to delay leaving to make sure someone attends to my dad. While we were talking to the nurse/staff member, I noticed my dads eyes rolled over and he went into a fit. The pain was to much. His heart stopped. We went ballistic. My poor mother ran out. Due to our screaming they were now awake and rushed to him. I can go on to explain what happened next, but I’m to emotional to so. He is ICU now again. Apparently when he arrived in ICU he did not have a heart beat. His pace maker kicked in and assisted his heart.
But let me go back to his previous admission to N1 city netcare. The same thing happened. We informed them when he was admitted that he can’t eat any red meat. When he was discharged in August 2022, yes a week and a half earlier, he was in pain due to a gout attack. He couldn’t stand on his feet. We were struggling with him at home. Guess why, “they gave him red meat”. During the first admission, the nurses never knew anything. The only thing they ever said was, “the doctor didn’t say anything, you must call him”. I take my hat of to Melomed Bellville, specifically Dr Leboho. Unfortunately due to medical aid issues, Melomed Bellville is no longer a service provider to our medical aid, so N1 City Netcare it was then. I even blame myself for taking my dad to that he’ll hole.
I do hope none of the day staff of F ward, who was on duty on Sunday 4 September 2022, even find themselves in the situation they placed us. But what you sow, you will reep.
