Disgruntled Patient

It is with great sadness and disappointment to write this letter. N.B: There’s a growing perception amongst the black community that, this hospital, has ****** amongst its staff members; I dismissed the notion but now I have a different view after my mother’s experience, please do not shy away in dealing with ****** in your institution because I believe it exists. I’m disgusted by what I believe happened. I’m not going to relate everything she experienced in that hospital on the said day, but will pick up on two points. Here we go; on the 22/08/2016 my mother (Vivian) who was referred to your Hospital to do catscan by Dr Kalagobe was treated very badly by your staff member (Ms Jenny Neethling). This is what she says happened:

· She was asked to lay on her back without assistance with a hand that was dislocated and painful to put it on her backside and the left hand on her chest for over half an hour.

· She came back later shouting and telling her she was not supposed to have moved at all; and ordered her to get back to the machine without assistance; and she was in excruciating pain, she went back without help. About an hour later she yelled at her saying she moved again that’s when she cried because of pain and the attitude of Ms Jenny Neethling.

It pains the family to hear that at this day and age there are people who behave in this manner. I believe every word she said, and I have no doubt she is telling the truth. Please note that; this is not just about my mother, but for all other people who are and or have been victimized by some of the hospital staff members. I just hope she wasn’t treated like this because she’s black.

We expect an apology by the nurse and the hospital; the doctor apologizing and letting the nurse off the hook is not acceptable, the nurse must take full responsibility for her actions and if the Doctor/s are always apologising on her behalf, she will never stop doing this because there’s no accountability from her side; our mother is very hurt by this incident, and she left the hospital crying. I thought hospitals were a place to heal not hurt. My mother is 70, if anything extremely bad had happened to her, we would have filed for litigation. Our Mother is still asking us and herself “why did Ms Jenny Neethling do that to her”, this ordeal is still traumatic to her.

Vivian’s shoulder was dislocated twice the same week, and she was in excruciating pain. Please tell me how possible is it to put your arm on your body or to even touch your backside like that? How does it happen that she can sit still and not have pain doing that? She was patient to sit there for most part of the day “in a Private Hospital” to receive such horrible treatment. It will be an insult to compare that Hospital with Public Facility.

How do you touch your backside with your painful dislocated shoulder and the shoulder that was just attended to; and it dislocated twice in a week, to be precise on Tuesday and on Friday.

I hope no other human being gets to experience what my mom experienced in your Hospital. It is painful to have to see a person physically hurt and to go to Hospital to get hep and having to leave the Hospital emotionally drained and physically hurt.

How would you feel Jenny Neethling if your mother was treated the same way you treated our mother, you need to be taken away from the institution; you clearly cannot work with human beings, let alone Black people.

Best regards,
Thanks, i will await your response,
I am not satisfied at all with the response i got from Ms Jenny Neetling, she went on explaining to me about how the machine works, clearly without taking any responsibility and accountability.
