Disappointing unequal treatment
I just came from Olivedale Netcare hospitals to drop few things for my partner who is admitted there. It's very disappointing to see how it's easy to be treated differently if you're black person, it cuts even deeper when it's coming from a black person like you.
So I'm at the door there were two ladies doing the screening, before I start the screening one asks if I have a permit and I said no (I was there yesterday I entered without any permit), then she said I can't enter, i said it's fine then i write the name where the bag must be dropped at. While I'm still standing there, a white lady comes, they immediately start the screening process, they only ask if she has a permit when she's about to complete screening and they didn't even check for that permit.
Still surprised, another white lady comes to drop a bag also, they ask her if she has a permit, I couldn't hear her response but I saw her writing the name of the patient like me, when I left I saw her going in and while I had to leave my bag at the door.
It's very sad to see how far we are from being equal citizens and having a transformed South Africa, but maybe one day.
