On the 25 July 2019 I took my 3yr old daughter to the emergency unit at Netcare Waterfall Midrand for a severe fever and to my surprise we put on the waiting list and it was decided that my daughter’s condition was not an emergency as it was rated in a Yellow color. We got to the emergency unit at 8pm and only saw the (1) attending dr at 10pm while he was busy attending other (older) patients, I guess they work with a 1st come, 1st serve process and not the severity of the patients illness. To make it worse after they called me in to see the dr he doesn’t give my daughter anything he just checked her wait and bp then said he was going to get us a bed only when my daughter started to vomit and we had to wait for another 30min to get but to my surprise it was another waiting room with some blue recliner chairs. When we get there they left us there and when a nurse came he asked for my daughter’s urine sample and gave her a vomit pill, that was around 11:30pm. Eventually we where given a room because the attending night shift (Dr Ike) refused to see my daughter in the waiting room. He said “I won’t see the child in there clear a room 1st). At this point my daughter’s temperature is rising she hasn’t been attended to even my a nurse. 45min later we are given a room and still no dr until 12:30pm he comes( doesn’t greet or say anything he just goes and checks my daughter and leaves so we wait for 30min before my child is given 1 pill and rehydrate not even antibiotics. At 1:30am when just started packing our things to leave because we head to another hospital that’s when a nurse comes saying he’s sorry the Dr on duty is really slow and isn’t doing his job.
Eventually at 2am that’s when the dr comes with a script saying we will have to get it tomorrow since ships are closed. I am soo annoyed with this service. We only left at 2am since 8pm just for fever. I’m never going back to that hospital a very annoyed. They don’t deserve any ratings
