Christiaan Barnard Memorial Hospital

My daughter was admitted to hospital, paediatric ward. Besides the stress of being there I felt confident with the staff until I asked for assistance. I was then given a long story about them being understaffed, two nurses never came into work. They did not help me, left a bitter taste in my mouth. Had to remind them of my daughters medication and was only given it almost two hours later. After spending four nights there I came home with bed bug bites. Thank goodness my daughter was affected. Two ladies came to do stocktake of the laundry, they wore gloves but was touching everything, cross contaminating everything. A child with gastro was put in the same ward with us and another child and mother. Both patients had chest infections and they thought it would be appropriate to put a highly infectious child with us. When I took the matter further I was told that its not confirmed that the child had gastro. The nurse kept saying that we were in a gastro room even though the first two patients had chest infections. I spoke to the next shift staff and they moved the child immediately. I was told that this was one of the best hospitals....
