Be aware of Netcare 911 Ambulance service contracts, with Bankmed medical aid. They do not pay for call out fees of an Ambulance

We called 911 for an emergency at our house in Brackenfell. Months after this I was called by a debt collector company, appointed by ER24, to inform me that I was handed over for this service R1251.00. Apparently Bankmed medical aid has a contract with Netrcare 911 ambulance services to pay ER24, unfortunately this contract does not cover a call out fee. If you are not transported to a hospital, you are liable for the costs. None of this was communicated to me by the paramedic and I did not want to go to any hospital because of the covid situation at that stage. It is not safe and I was 57 year old. I now had to make arrangements to pay off the ER24 account which Netcare 911 and my medical aid refused to pay. Sad that one has to pay sooo much for medical aid for -+38 years (Bankmed) and then they cannot pay for emergency services because of "certain" services are not paid for in a contract with Netcare 911. I even requested Bankmed pays the account from last year savings that was not used but they declined this.

I have been sent from Bankmed to Net care 911 to ER24 to try and resolve this but I will, now as a pensioner pay this off. ER24 was kind enough to assist with with a payment plan.
