I am extremely disgusted in the service I received in a so called private hospital namely Parklands Hospital. My 7 yr old son was admitted in Parklands on Sa****ay at 1pm for being extremely dehydrated from vomiting and not keeping any solids or liquids down since Thursday. When arriving at the hospital bloods were taken and tests were run. His pediatrician Dr Mitha assessed him, put him on a drip and meds were prescribed. That night I sat up all night with him shaking and shivering with a temperature spiking to 38 & 39 all night. Day 2 in hospital and still vomiting and nausea as well as the high fever. While I was getting a cup of coffee I saw a lady with a nurse entering my son's room. As I got into the room the unknown lady was examining my son and talking to the nurse. I was not spoken to, greeted or even acknowledged by the so called person examining my son. Just as the nurse and this so called pediatrician were about the leave the room I asked when my son's pediatrician was arriving. I was then informed that my son's pediatrician was not coming in and that the so called person attending to my son was the pediatrician on stand by, with no introduction or name given. My son started coughing as they were about to leave the room so I asked if he could please be given something for that dry cough as it was getting worse. The female pediatrician turned to me and said he would be nebulized for that cough. "Strange" but anyway who am I to argue...? She then walked out of the room without any feedback on her examination or tests result. It's as though I didn't exist or wasn't even in the room. I then approached the nurse, sister "Singh"and asked who was the pediatrician as nothing was discussed with me she didn't even acknowledge the fact that I was even in the room. I asked if I could speak to her for feedback on her examination as well as on the test results from the bloods taken the day before. Informing her that I had questions for her on my son's condition. I was then told by sister Singh that pediatrician had left and they didn't even know her name as she was not the hospitals pediatrician but Dr Mitha's so called partner. I was irritated and asked if the nurse sister Singh could please get her on the phone as I needed to speak to her in connection with my son's health. The response I received was that the pediatrician Dr Jasmat said she was not there to see me but to see my son she didn't need to see or speak to me as I was not the patient my son was. She has nothing to say to me and if I'm not happy to contact my son's pediatrician Dr Mitha. I was appalled at the response I received and the attitude behind it. I had questions that needed to be answered as my son's health is deteriorating and she doesn't feel she needs to speak to me or discuss my son's condition with me. I requested to speak to hospital management where I was then introduced to sister Marian who was on call for the hospital. She then informed me she was unable to get involved from her level there was nothing she could do but that I should wait to speak to my son's pediatrician Dr Mitha on Sun night, which was not guaranteed or Monday morning. In the interim my son's health is still deteriorating and I still have no answers. He has not kept and solids down or liquids and spiking fever of 39 and I'm being told I'm not important. My question is who is paying you for the service you providing, my 7 yr old or me..? I am extremely disgusted and appalled at the service as well as the response I received. I have a bitter taste in my mouth and will never refer or recommend anyone to this hospital or pediatrician ever.
