An unforgettable gift

There are a few times in life where we are touched and influenced by a special kind of stranger. These people effect our lives irrevocably.

My life was impacted by one of these people working in the maternity ward at Netcare Kingsway...

Nurse Negema gave me the gift of breastfeeding. Her patience with both mom and baby and her insistence on not giving up drove me on, fueling my many failed attempts to get baby to latch. It was in the early hours of one morning (she stayed with me while I battled to get my daughter to feed) after yet another failed attempt to get baby to latch that nurse Negema had a stoke of genius and ******* baby into latching onto a nipple shield by using some sugar water.

Had it not been for her tenacity and perseverance, I would never have had the deep privilege and honor of breastfeeding my little girl. Every time I look at my feeding daughter I am reminded of nurse Negema's contribution and how because of her, we now have this time together.

Nurse Negema, you will forever be remembered in this family. Thank you for staying with me and for your boundless kindness and unceasing patience - God bless you and shower you with His favor.

Jax and Lilly
