An injustice
My 11 year old son was admitted to the hospital after he was bitten by two dogs. I then had to open a case against the owner of the dogs. The police require a J88 to be filled by a doctor who attended him and a letter explaining the nature of his injuries. I spoke to Dr. Pillay about the issue and he has failed to write this letter. With regard to the J88 he said it's the emergency department who handles such forms. I then went to the emergency department to ask them to fill out the form and they said they charge R600 for the form, which covers transport costs when the doctor is called to court. I then stated that I do not have the R600 as I did not plan my son's accident so I incurred alot of costs while he was admitted and i also had to pay for medication that the medical aid doesn't cover. I spoke to the manager of the emergency department and he said there is nothing he can to help me as I have to follow the procedure. My main concern is that it's been over a month now and I cannot proceed with the case due to the outstanding documents. I still have to pay 3000 cash for scar treatment, how will I pay for it if I can't proceed with the claim. Please help.
