Ambulance A101

On Tuesday, 11th of June, my mother (Mary Zulu) had an emergency (Stroke) and was taken to Dr Legodi. After seeing Dr Legodi, he told us that they called an ambulance and that my mother will be transferred to Castenhof Hospital as there’s a specialist waiting for her and that admission arrangement were made.

One of the paramedics kept on insisting that we take my mother to Arwyp Hospital as there are many specialist there for different conditions and that they’ll be able to help her at the same building and same time so that my mother doesn’t have to wait. Before we left Legodi I asked the African lady that was talking to us if they did call Arwyp and confirm if there’s beds available in the ICU and High Care. She said they did and that we don’t have to worry as there’s always a bed available.

The ambulance then drove to Arwyp Hospital and we got to there at the Casualty and my mother was assisted. At casualty they did what Dr Legodi has already done and one of the doctors said they did X-Rays and etc. They later got back to me saying that the letter is written that my mother was supposed to be transferred to Castenhof and that they assisting her as much as possible because they don’t turn back patients. We sat at the casualty from 3pm on till 23:28pm waiting for a bed in ICU and in High Care and failed. They tried calling Castenhof to transfer her there but there was no bed anymore as my mother didn’t show up. They called an ambulance again to transfer my mother to Busamed Hospital and got there around past 12am, 12 June, opening a file again and signing admission forms as the doctor and specialist that Dr Legodi said we must initial go to works at that hospital as well.

I want Netcare to be liable for the Casualty payments that occurred at Arwyp as more cost keep going off her medical aid which will minimize her being assisted and getting the necessary help. There were 4 paramedics and two males decided to go there direction and not follow the ambulance to the hospital and left two ladies. The paramedics names are C. van Wyk and D/P Sibuyi

Please urgently assist and getting this issue resolved because we sat hours at casualty whilst they are asleep with my mother being inconvenienced at her state. They were *********.
