5cm Wire Left Behind After Surgery

On the 15 January 2018 I went for surgery (sternum wires to be removed) at Christiaan Barnard Hospital (NETCARE) and the surgeon was Dr Susan Vosloo. The first operation I went for (double bypass heart surgery) was done on the 08 June 2017 at the same hospital and surgeon. Since my first operation I have experience constant pain as time went by which means my recovery after surgery was delay and because of that I couldn't keep up with my work and was retrenched on the 29 September 2017 and unemployed to date.

Since my first operation I went to see a psychologist - OT and follow up appointments with my cardiologist as well as my surgeon Dr Susan Vosloo because. With my last visit at Dr Vosloo in January 2018 she have mentioned that some of the wires broke that keep my sternum together and that cause the constant pain. On the 15 January 2018 I under go a operation whereby all wires been removed as mentioned by Dr Vosloo after the operation and not only the once that broke. With my follow up visits by Dr Vosloo I have mentioned to her that I still have allot of pain and have a knob close to my neck which is very sensitive and pain allot at times. She have mentioned that it will go away after some time which wasn't the case. I had an x-ray done at Constantia Mediclinic on the 01 February 2018 where it shows that I still have some wires in my sternum and not all been removed as mentioned by Dr Vosloo. I have submit the CD of the Radiologists at Dr Vosloo's rooms whereby I was request by the receptionist of Dr Vosloo on the 09/05/2018 that she would like to see me on the 11/05/ 2018. With my visit Dr Vosloo mentioned to me that there is a small problem and said that the pain I experience is of a wire that is trap under my skin of which cause the irritation and pain and that she is very sorry about that. She said the way forward is to removed the wire before it can cause any serious harm. I went to think it over and went for a consultation once again on the 10/07/2018 whereby she send me for x-rays at Dr Morton & Partners at Christiaan Barnard Hospital. The x-rays confirmed once again that a loose wire was stuck under my skin and on the 12/07/2018 she decided to removed the wire local in her rooms.

Dr Vosloo never admits that the wire she have removed locally on the 12/07/2018 was because of negligence what she did said in afrikaans "dit was nagelaat" in english it was left behind. I have also said to her that I am of the opinion that she should compensate me in some way as I am unemployed for such a long time because of her negligence as she was the surgeon and the responsible one. She has mentioned to me over the phone that she cant support me as she have a family to take care of and there want come anything of it should I go the legal rood. I have request her to put everything on email which she wasn't willing to do. So I need advise from someone out there someone who can give me more info how to take this on.

Here we go 10 days later and still the Netcare Customer Service Team of Christiaan Barnard Memorial Hospital haven't made contact with me since there last response on hellopeter site the 13 Jun 2018. I am of the opinion that they undermined me and try to see if this matter will just disappear which want be the case. I need answers and a proper explanation. How do a surgical team manage to left a 5cm peace of stainless steel wire behind which was the cause of the delay of my recovery after surgery. This has left me unemployed to date since I was retrench last year 2017 because of my medical condition. If there is anyone out there who can advised me please feel free to contact me on + ********** 1379
