Neotel Has Become Neotelkom

I moved to Neotel to get away from anything Telkom related. Now I'm so desperately unhappy with them I'm even considering going back. After being on an uncapped 2MB/S line for a while which regularly choked my speed and dropped out, I got sick of them telling me over the phone that it's an issue on my side. I unplugged and plugged my modem over and over and it made no difference. In a final attempt to at least have usable speeds where I don't have to wait a MINUTES for a simple youtube video to buffer, I asked them to switch me to the 45GB per month plan which is up to 5MB/S. This is where I discovered how they mess with you. Since being billed and switching over, I have tested my internet speed every day and measured a download speed of almost exactly 2MB/S. I emailed them, angry that they had billed me but forgot to switch me to the new speed and got a lazy copy-paste response saying that they had, in fact, switched me. My subsequent speed tests found that to be hogwash. I wrote back, furious, and was phoned a day or so later by a guy from their CS department. He gave me a story I had heard before from them, you know, the one about "UP TO". So basically even if I'm getting an unusable half meg per second, I should just shut up and accept it because technically that's still UP TO 5MB/S. Well I'm not going to shut up and take this. It's like a form of gaslighting, making me think the problem is mine, when THEY HAVE FAILED TO PROVIDE THE SERVICE I AM PAYING FOR. Neotel are an utter disgrace, their seemingly average services are overpriced compared to competition, and I hope they continue to shed customers until their worthless company folds in on itself.

Bottom line: SAY NO TO BEING HELD RANSOM BY ISPs THAT OVERCHARGE AND UNDER DELIVER. STAY FAR AWAY FROM NEOTEL.

Hilarious how I get a private reply to this post from Neotel asking how they can get in contact, and then when I furnish contact details I hear nothing from them. They obviously just want to APPEAR like they care when they actually don't. I'm sitting on a pathetic 1MB/S today trying to work from home right now. Worthless ISP.
