Whatever happened to Accountability?

On the 12th Feb 16 I went into Nedbank, Kenilworth Centre branch, to use the Saswitch machine just outside the branch. I transferred R1000-00 from my Bond acc to my cheq acc, also held with Nedbank. I then received an error message, saying that as a result of technical problems we cannot confirm that your transaction has been carried out.

I go into the branch to question the error message & was told by the consultant that I needed to return to the bank in a day or so and then check my account again. When I return to the bank my account reflects that the money had been withdrawn and my bond account shows funds has gone off.

I was told to call current acc`s to query. Courtney Daza investigates and returns with a message that the ATM was not out of balance. Then spoke to Neo Moloabe at cheq acc division who confirms funds has been withdrawn. Nobody at Nedbank can tell me what happened to the funds but I have noticed that the branches has started to phase out the Saswitch machines or the branches that does have these, they simply do not work requesting one time passwords over and over again.

What I find disappointing is that R1 000 is not much but what happens if the there is an additional 1 or 2 digits? I have been a customer for the past 14 years and this leaves a very uneasy feeling that the bank I should trust with my homeloan and cheq account, simply shrugs their shoulders and says we don`t know what happened to your money. I approached the ombudsman and their response was "The Bank advised that the ATM logs indicate that the withdrawal was successful and that the funds were dispensed accordingly". If you can`t trust the people who handle your hard earned cash who do you turn to????
