Unwarranted Marketing

Dear Nedbank Team, I am writing this letter with great frustration and disappointment regarding the apparent disregard for my clear preferences as your customer. Approximately five years ago, I app**** for and was approved for a home loan with your institution. At the time of signing up, I explicitly opted out of receiving any additional product offers from Nedbank or any of its subsidiaries. This decision was made deliberately, as I had no interest in consolidating debt, obtaining credit cards, or considering investment opportunities from your institution. I have always been satisfied with the products and services I currently use from other financial institutions and have no intention of moving away from them.

For five years, Nedbank honored my request, and I received no product offers or unsolicited communications. However, in January 2025, I was surprised and deeply irritated to receive a call offering an investment opportunity. This call was not only unwelcomed but also a blatant violation of the agreement I entered into with your institution when I signed up for my home loan. It is extremely troubling that my clear and explicit instructions were ignored after such a long period.

It is unacceptable that my preferences, which were clearly stated and documented, have been disregarded. The fact that I am now receiving marketing calls and emails about products I have no interest in is frustrating, intrusive, and entirely disrespectful of my wishes. Moreover, this raises concerns about how my personal information is being handled within your organization. It appears that my data is being used for purposes I did not consent to, which I view as a serious breach of my trust and privacy.

I cannot comprehend how such incompetence can occur at a financial institution that prides itself on customer service. My request to not receive marketing or product offers should have been respected and upheld without exception. It is alarming that after five years of compliance, my preferences are suddenly being ignored.

This experience has severely damaged my perception of Nedbank and its commitment to its customers. I am now left questioning whether I made the right decision in choosing your institution for my home loan. I am strongly considering transferring my home loan to another bank that respects customer preferences and values their business.

I demand that you take immediate action to address this matter. Specifically, I request: 1. An explanation of why my request to opt out of marketing and product offers was ignored. 2. Immediate removal of my contact information from all marketing and product offer lists. 3. Assurance that my personal information will not be used or shared for any purpose other than servicing my existing home loan. 4. Confirmation that no further unsolicited communications will be made to me regarding additional products or services.

This situation is not only inconvenient but also deeply disrespectful of my time and decisions. I expect a formal response to this letter with clear details of the steps you will take to rectify the issue. Failure to address this matter adequately will leave me with no choice but to escalate my concerns to the appropriate regulatory bodies and proceed with transferring my home loan to another financial institution. And this is not a treat as am busy with the process as we speak as i wont tolerate ignorance ,pathetic violation of privacy.

I sincerely hope this serves as a wake-up call for your team to prioritize customer satisfaction and respect for their preferences. Your actions, or lack thereof, in addressing this matter will determine whether I can continue as a Nedbank customer or choose to take my business elsewhere.
