Unknowledgeable, thoughtless staff. Unsmart banking in a smart world. More red tape than a hardware store.

This has been ongoing for a year now and I'm sick of it. I have been with Nedbank for a good few decades and it's appalling to see the degradation in service and care for the client. Why do you even bother being a bank if you don't care bout the people who put money in your business?

I recently got married and wanted to open a shared account for my husband and I to manage finances. He is also a Nedbank client.

1. Call Centre - This is not possible with Nedbank for safety reasons.

2. Spoke to a manager in the Call Centre - This is not possible with Nedbank for safety reasons.

***The Toll Free line is NOT TOLL FREE! After spending hours on the phone with them and having to keep recharging airtime, I complained about this and NOTHING has been done about it.

3. Call Centre (another department) - This is not possible with Nedbank for safety reasons.

4. Nedbank Gateway Branch - I'm sorry, we can't help you. Try the call centre or the app. (No one knows what the hell is going on)

5. Nedbank App - No information whatsoever on this.

6. Nedbank FAQ's - No information whatsoever on this.

You can't link your accounts, but you also can't get your spouse added to your account (according to the people who work at Nedbank).

I was then helped by someone at FNB - who mentioned a possible authority you could give your spouse, but this then also doesn't give them any access to the account on their app.

How is it that another bank knows more about Nedbank's banking possibilities, than Nedbank's staff???

We found a workaround and added a virtual card to my husbands card. When changing phones, we had to call in to re-add the card. That is now ALSO NOT ALLOWED! I want to pull my hair out!! The agent proceeded to fight with me on the call and tell me it can be done in branch - to which I had to explain that her own colleagues told me NO!

Then spoke to a manager, who was also completely unhelpful. "I'm sorry, this is the virtual card department. I can't help you with this." I asked to formally log my complaint - to which, how very coincidental the call cut. They didn't even bother to return the call.

Nedbank have supposed spouse "friendly" banking, yet it completely defeats what the customers want to use their accounts for... WHY???

If you are looking for a bank that costs you more time and money than it's worth, this would be the one. I'm willing to be, I won't even get a call or message for this complaint, just like I haven't the all the rest of the complaints.

If anyone does read this, (yes, I'm still hopeful) can I please just give my husband access to the account we need to use together? And please tell me exactly how this can be done?

I'm not asking for a lot.
