Unfair treatment by the Nedbank Homeowners Insurance

Hello Peter, there was a flooding in house on the 30th of October 2020 due to heavy storm we had and I lodged a claim with Nedbank Home Owners Insurance on 02 November 2020. A service provider sent by the insurer came to make an assessment for quotation purposes. After a couple of days without any action I then made a follow up and I was told that an assessor will appointed to come and assess the damage. Eventually an Assessor was appointed who then rejected my claim according to one of the claim handlers. She mentioned that the claim is rejected on the basis that I made a similar claim in 2016 and the assessor recommended that I fix the roof in order for the insurer to consider similar claim in future. I then indicated that I find it unfair that this claim is rejected on the basis of being similar to the one of 2016 because I attended to the roof in 2016 and I even sent them the invoice for that work ad proof. I also indicated that it had been 4 years since 2016 and my house could withstand all these heavy rains and storms we have experienced in the past 4 years. I also asked them as to why is this claim exempted from the principle of the recommendation made by the assessor of fixing a roof then we entertain your claim. My argument was well received such that a partial letter rejection letter was sent to me. It was only rejecting the roof and the person committed that the insurer will compensate me for damages on the ceiling and painting of walls. As I was making follow-ups, I was told to send pictures of the fixed roof of which I did. Still there was no progress. I then escalated the matter to the complaint section and still no progress. I then spoke to one of the claim handlers who then sent me an acknowledge of loss with a settlement figure which I agreed to. A couple minutes later I received an email from the person responsible for my claim who has never called me in almost 3 months since I lodged the claim. She sends a email recalling the acknowledgement of loss agreement and says the claim is fully rejected. I feel that the insurer has been very unfair to me and I need justice for this. I need your intervention in this regard. I am also willing to share this on Twitter after receiving their Twitter handle. I am also going to expose them on all social media platforms. I am even going to write to the Insurance Ombudsman for their intervention. My lawyer has been briefed about this and has advised that I exhaust all these avenues and if we don't get help, we then take the legal route. Please assist.
