Unfair treatment by Nedbank
I took out a loan with Nedbank in March 2022. At the time I was working on a contract basis. I was then retrenched 31 May 2022.
I continued paying this loan without any issues until I started defaulting in January 2023 due to being unemployed. On 9 April 2023, I was involved in a car accident where I sustained serious injuries resulting in me not being able to work. I was admitted in Hospital till 13 April 2023, discharged to be on " Bed Rest" for atleast 6 weeks due to a broken pelvis. This is when I decided to register a claim for retrenchment on 14 April 2023 because I could see that I will battle to keep up with the repayments. Nedbank decided to refute my claim stating that I was retrenched within 3 months of taking out a loan.
This is where my problem is: Nedbank knew from day one that I was a contract worker and not permanently employed when they gave me the loan. Why did they approve this loan?
On 15 May 2023, I called Nedbank to register a claim for disability and was told I need to send them my medical records which I did. Then they sent me forms to request the hospital to complete. I have received the forms back from the hospital on 2 June 2023 which I have sent to Nedbank today and hopefully they will not give me the run around as well regarding this matter. By the way, I went for a check up on 12 May and was given another 6 weeks to be on "Bed Rest" as I am still battling to walk on my own.
On Friday 2 June 2023, I phoned Nedbank Personal Loans twice, requesting a copy of my Loan agreement. Each consultant promised to send it to me, to date, I am still waiting! What is taking so long?
