********* conduct

I’d like to share my story here in terms of my experience with Nedbank.

With the onset of Covid I opted for a payment holiday. After a couple of months I reinstated payments but not full installments as to balance my finances until things are back to normal.

Noteworthy to mention, and Nedbank dismally failed to communicate this to me that when I took the payment holiday, their intention was to debit the FULL amount one time at the end of the payment holiday. Just think about how exactly this would be possible? If I had al the funds I would never have needed to take the payment holiday, right?

So, I progressively increased my payments to get back to the full installment amount and I still progressively increased my payments as to catch up the arrears. I made arrangements and kept to every single one of them. I did not default once.

In this process there was a serious amount of pressure despite the arrangements and myself honoring the agreements made that were renewed every 3 months. The pressure was related to Nedbank trying to recover ALL the arrears instantly despite the recorded arrangements.

I would get messages of debit order authorities to debit a whole amount from one of my other Nedbank accounts And I always had to call in to find out why the continued mess and confusion despite the made arrangements.

I also had eradic debits go off my accounts during this period to the extent that I cancelled all debit authority as Nedbank simply could not keep to their end of the bargain despite myself keeping to all payment and arrangements.

At the point where I switched to manual payments, things worked better as I was able to make payments when they were due and for the correct amounts.

My account is now fully up to date but alas! I STILL get threatening messages and debit order authority messages for amounts pulled out of thin air and said to be debited before the actual debit date.

I have called in to ask how it’s possible that Nedbank finds “arrears” when there are none and why a client that kept his side of the arrangements and is fully paid up is treated like a ********, like ******* off the street?

After these calls I was assured that everything is ok and there are no arrears and I will be sent an sms to confirm my account is indeed as per my records, fully up to date.

What happened next is exactly the same, AGAIN! Threatening messages demanding payment due at month end debited NOW.

I’m dumbfounded as to how Nedbank can treat a paying client like *******. This is a company culture thing at Nedbank as our business bankers are equally useless clearing account payment and withdrawal limits without our knowledge or reason, doesnt respond to eMails and simply doesn’t complete simple tasks at hand. This was seen across two completely separate business accounts at two completely different branches.

Nedbank also did a credit check for finance on my name without my knowledge or consent! This was admitted by them to me on email by a top executive. Despite the transgression, zero rectification was made.

In closing it’s clear that Nedbank is not looking for clients, it’s looking for money. They don’t keep to agreements and they don’t give two hoots about clients. So please think carefully before signing up for ANYTHING with Nedbank and keep these things in mind.

I don’t want a call back, I don’t want a resolution. I just wanted to share my experience and warn other individuals against this ********* big bank behaviour.
