Transactions made on a blocked card

On the 24th of January 2017 I bought some food at Shoprite Voortrekker Weg Bellville. At the tillpoint my card was declined. I went to Standard Bank ATM inside Shoprite and withdrew R500, I received my money but my card did not come out of the ATM. I waited and when it did not come out I immediately went to Nedbank Voortrekker opposite Shoprite, I blocked my card and received a new one. On Friday 27th of January 2017 I went to Shoprite Belhar and bought food worth R152,88 and withdrew R1500. When I got home my cellphone banking informed me that another R2000 was withdrawn from my account. I immediately went back to Shoprite Belhar and complained about the withdrawal because I was not present when the withdrawal took place and my card was in my possession. The Supervisor/Manager told me that they can only help me if I got a statement from my bank. I went to Nedbank Airport Mall but the transaction did not appear yet. On Saturday the 28th of January 2017 I went back to Nedbank for a statement but the transaction was still not showing on the statement. I went back to Shoprite Belhar and informed the Supervisor/Manager about the transaction that was not appearing on the statement. I went home without buying anything and later that day, while visiting a friend in Old Belhar I received an sms from my cellphone banking that a purchase of R455,95 was made at Shoprite Belhar. I was very confused and upset because once again, my card was with me. I immediately asked my friend, once again, to take me to Shoprite Belhar where I explained to the Supervisor/Manager what had happened. I then called the Call Centre to block the new card as well. On Monday the 30th of January 2017 I went to Nedbank Belhar for a statement but they were closed due to cable theft. On Friday the 3rd of February 2017 I went back to Nedbank Voortrekker Bellville, the bank where I had initially blocked the first card. I explained to the same teller, who had initially blocked my card, what had happened and after she investigated she informed me that the money had been ****** from the card that was blocked on the 24th of January 2017. She called the consultants and they told her that she didn't need to send the ***** case papers because they (the consultant) would call me. After almost two weeks and no phone call, I went back to Nedbank Voortrekker on Tuesday the 14 February 2017. I spoke to the same teller, and once again she called the consultants. I then opened a ***** case, which is when they told me that because the money was ****** in Belhar, the area in which I live, that it could count against me. She also said that someone I knew could have taken the card and used it. I then told her that her reasons were irrelevant because my card was supposed to be blocked. The transactions happened 3-4 days after I had blocked my card. It was clear to me that that meant that the person responsible for blocking my card did not do his or her job correctly. I therefore hold Nedbank fully accountable for my money that was ****** and other expenses, i.e petrol costs, statement costs, interest charged on my other account due to my inability to pay them punctually. I am required to go to the police station for an affidavit, go to Nedbank Voortrekker once again to sign another form and go back to Shoprite Belhar again as well for receipts. This is and has been very stressful and I am very disappointed in the service I received from Nedbank. It now seems that they would blame me rather than take responsibility for their own inability to do their job properly.
