Tedious Process

Ask yourself this question, if you need to change your cellphone while overseas, what processes does your bank have to change that number.

If you bank with Nedbank and you thinking of travelling for a year, do some research and see what bank will make your life easier, by changing that number.

I got stuck in South America without accessing my funds because my cellphone number was disconnected by Telkom(that's another story).

I contacted Nedbank, they could not change my details over the phone.

They keep saying, go to your nearest branch, as if I can do that being overseas.

After a few calls, I was given the below process to follow.

Documents are to be notarized as per High Court Rule 63 requirements (attached)

Please sent the following documents to us;

· Copy of ID (notarised) · Copy of Passport (notarised) · Application to Amend (notarised) · Indemnity form (notarised)

The documents can be notarized at any of the following:

§ Embassy § Consulate General § Public Notary § Office of a Government Authority such as; a Police Station

Please courier original signed and notarized documents to Branch Administration, addressed as follows:

Branch 0557 Attention: Branch Administration Centre 1st floor Newtown Junction Cnr Miriam Makheba Street and Carr Street Newtown Johannesburg Gauteng South Africa 2000

Please note that couriering and notarizing is at your own cost.

I've managed to do this as per Nedbank's instructions.

The courier company refused to deliver the documents as the address was insufficient. No person's name, no name of the business and no contact number.

I emailed the department dealing with this, getting no response from them I called Nedbank yet again, asking for a name and telephone number, the call centre (sorry contact centre) refuse to give me these details. Finally, someone in the department dealing with the change in details responded.

The documents were delivered 5 days later after they arrived in South Africa.

After more emails to Nedbank, I had to do a video call, to verify I am who I am.

That video call was done at 14h00 on the 21st of February. Twenty-four hours later I am still waiting for them to change my cellphone number.

This I the most tedious process I have ever encountered.

Will Nedbank get back to me I doubt it, as with every email I send to them I copied their so-called client feedback department, did I get any response from them, no.

Will I close my bank account when returning to South Africa, hell yes!!!!!

NOT THAT NEDBANK OR ANY BANK CARES

Three days later I'm still waiting for Nedbank Management Team to approve my change in details.

A process according to Nedbank will take only 5 days.

My documents was delivered on the 16th, it's been over 5 days.

Nedbank making things happen, at their own pace
