Sudden FICA verification requirements - Account blocked???

Dear Nedbank,

Today my wife had experienced a nasty surprise caused by you. Her Nedbank cheque card was deactivated today without any previous notice and as a result she was stranded and left embarrassed at one of SA's biggest retailers and shopping malls unable to pay for the goods. After spending 30 (!) minutes waiting on assistance from one of your consultants she has been told she needs to verify her account for FICA purposes, in person and only then account will be unblocked after 48 (!) hours.

How can you do something like this to your loyal and old customer, without any prior notice? WHO gave you the rights to play with people's time and money?

I'll tell you this Nedbank; first thing tomorrow morning we are going together to verify her (mine as well) identity as per FICA requirements. If however, after this you don't do anything to speed up this whole mess caused by your own unprofessionalism, you can rest assured that we will be switching the bank and taking our business elsewhere.

Sincerely,
Ivan.
