28 Nov 2018, 14:19I hereby lodge a complaint regarding my student loan account with Nedbank.
A.I received a student loan in January 2018 for R24800.00 with the following terms:
1.Monthly repayment of R2218 p/m for 12 months to settle my student loan which is currently being honoured without fail.
However , when I called Nedbank last Friday 23/11/2018 to confirm my settlement amount on my student loan the following emerged:
- The consultant (Nomonde) referred the email to another department where I was cc’d(see attached email) confirming that the amount outstanding on the account was R1239.00 .
- I then received a call this morning from Nomonde Nedbank consultant to inform me that I have outstanding debts from my previous personal loans which they have decided to add to my student loan which then extends my contractual agreement by 6 months as the total outstanding is now R18,000.00 ( Marcelle( Team leader) also eluded to her consultant sentiments)
Can the following be investigated.
Was Nedbank in a position to:
1.Alter my contractual agreement (by adding the personal loan amount to a student loan) without my knowledge.
2. Extend my contractual term without taking me through how the interest rate will be worked out (Interest rate is decided on one’s credit profile which leaves me baffled which profile was used (the 2013 profile when I took out the loan or the 2018 profile )
Nedbank personal loans
Was contacted by myself this year 3 times to confirm outstanding amounts and if payments were received and it was confirmed all was in order
see call reference numbers:
19 March 2018 –spoke to Simon-call ref ********** 9
30 April 2018- spoke to Patricia ********** 2
25 July - ********** 6
they also confirmed settlement amount and after payment they issued me with a paid up letter(see attached)
B. Student loans claims that Personal loans made an error when they failed to debit my account for few months therefore this was a suitable recourse for them to recoup the money.
1.Why is it then that AFTER settling my Personal loan , the personal loans department failed to contact me to advise of the error but rather collude with student loans to take the money that they claim was not debited.
2.This is not in line with TCF(Treating customers fairly).
