Shocking service and bridge of contract

To whom it may concern

I am appalled by the service my parents received from Nedbank. My parents received a call stating that the car they have been driving for years will be repossessed. This is a serious quandary and I need to stress the following. They have been making payments to the account for the last couple of years and suddenly they were informed the account was closed. Being on pension they enquired and asked for a letter stating the account is closed. Nedbank (Lansdowne/Hanover park) consultant confirmed the account is closed and informed them that they don’t need to make any future payments and will receive a letter soon. They requested a doc before leaving the bank and it also states that the account closed.

Today they were phoned by an attorneys stating is imperative they pay R23000 or the car will be taken. I mean where on earth would a pensioner obtain that amount of funds. When my mother enquired and informed them that she has a letter, it was completely shun and told it’s null and void. Should it be an error by my parents - they willing to make a fixed payment arrangement? However Lana the attorney was so rude she just told them they need to pay. What is going on at Nedbank? What is the problem? Why did no one phone them? Why did the consultant tell them it’s closed and gave them a letter? Why didn’t they want to make an arrangement? Please look into the quandary urgently or we will have no option but to visit the ombudsman.
