Seriously considering transferring my bond to another Bank

I was advised when applying for my bond that I’d be able to move funds in and out of my bond. However, I was not advised that this means the bond neither needed to be linked to my self-service profile nor was I asked whether I wanted the service to be activated.

By the time I needed this service; I called the call centre and was advised to go into a branch as I have a joint bond. Both I and my husband would need to go with our Identity Documents and that it will immediately be available.

We went into the branch on Saturday, it took close to an hour as there systems were slow or whatever the reason was, by the time the consultant decided she didn’t want to keep us any longer, she had noticed that our bond agreement was not uploaded onto their system.

Apparently, this agreement is needed to allow me and husband access to our bond that I pay from my Nedbank account and even though I went in with our Identity documents as I was advised, Nedbank could not release my bond because they needed to see our signatures on the loan agreement.

Since we both have 2 bank accounts with Nedbank, our signatures should be on the system shouldn’t it? Besides that, how was it my problem that the loan agreement has not been uploaded?

I was advised to call the home loans department yesterday (Tuesday) where I was then advised that the registering attorneys were at fault and I needed to call them to e-mail the loan agreement.

How was it my job to do this? Furthermore, once I contacted the registering attorney, it took 2 minutes for them to mail the agreement to me. Which means no one has been requesting it since Saturday when I was in the branch, as the contact person had no idea what I was referring to when advising her about my issue with the bank. The registering attorney’s office advised me that it is not procedure to upload the loan agreement and that if Nedbank hadn’t had any access to my loan agreement, the loan would not have been processed.

I called the branch once I received the agreement for an email address for me to forward it to, the mail kept bouncing as the file was larger than 2 MB. The person with whom I spoke advised me that she would call me if she does not receive the agreement in 15 minutes since she was apparently on lunch only up until I requested to speak to someone higher than her. I responded to my mail advising her that the mail was bouncing but she did not respond.

When I called her, she advised me that she saw the mail that I could not forward the agreement yet did not bother contacting me with an alternate solution. Still, this was not my job. She forwarded my call through to her team leader who then gave me her email address to forward the agreement to, advised me that my issue would be resolved as soon as she receives it. Once she received it, she questions me about the registering attorneys, for their names and contact details and says now she needs to give them a call.

Obviously, this meant my issue was not resolved. This morning (Wednesday) I mailed her requesting feedback and still have not received a response.

This service is pathetic. Did I really need to go through all this trouble to have my bond linked to my profile which holds the account that is paying the bond? Yet, it’s been 5 days and still Nedbank could not provide me with this simple request.

I still have not received feedback from the branch. It's been more than 24 hours since I've forwarded my loan agreement, even though the team leader advised that it was all they needed, my bond has still not been released.
