Request for Investigation: Ongoing Charges on Closed/Inactivated Card
I'm writing to formally raise an issue regarding my credit card account [Account Number or Reference Number]. Despite the fact that I haven’t used this card in several years and the account has already been handed over to debt collectors, I’ve noticed that charges are still being app****. I find this highly unfair and would appreciate it if the matter could be looked into and resolved as soon as possible.
The card has been inactive for approximately 4–5 years, and I haven’t made any purchases or transactions during this time. Once my debt was handed over to a debt collection agency, I was under the impression that the account would be closed or suspended and no further charges would occur. However, I’m still seeing charges I never authorized, which is very concerning.
To be clear:
- **The card hasn’t been used in years**, so there’s no reason for any charges or interest to continue. - **Since the account was already handed to debt collectors**, I believe it was the company’s responsibility to stop any further charges from accruing on the card. - **These ongoing charges feel unjust**, especially as I’ve made arrangements through the debt collection process, and I’m not actively using this card.
Given this, I kindly ask for the following:
1. **Immediate cancellation of the card** – since it’s no longer in use, it should be formally closed and all charges/fees/interest stopped. 2. **A detailed explanation of all charges** made on the account after it was handed to debt collectors – including interest, service fees, or any other activity. 3. **Written confirmation that the debt is settled** – and that there is no outstanding balance on the account.
I’d appreciate a swift response and resolution. If this issue isn’t sorted out soon, I’ll have no choice but to consider seeking legal advice to ensure my rights are protected.
Thank you for your attention.
Warm regards, Kari Hamilton ***
