REPORTING VERY, VERY, POSSIBLE *****
I advertised a Ride-on lawnmower for sale on Gumtree. I got a response from a client of Nedbank who 'paid' me in two consecutive payments (SMS Notices of payment) R4000.00 and R19500.00. This happened on Friday 3 November 2017. The person sent me a copy of his ID and copy of his Eskom account as proof of residence. No money was forthcoming.
I went to Nedbank branch at Springs Mall on Tuesday and Wednesday. They did not know about the Nedbank Helpline for these cases. A person at Absa (my bankers) suggested I phone the Nedbank helpline, which I did on Wednesday 8 November. The person suggested I wait another day, which I did. This morning 9 November I phoned the Helpline again and spoke to Zakhele who asked me whether the name of the client is France. I confirmed and was glad that I've actually got a connection. Zakhele requested I give him France's cell number. As I could not get my cell phone to retrieve the number while we were talking Zakhele took my cell number to phone in a couple of minutes to give me time to retriev France's number. I haven't heard of him since. Zakhele mentioned that I could have been de*****ed. My concern is: How can I receive Notices of payment from Nedbank when nothing was paid? Secondly as this is a Nedbank client surely Nedbank can then debit this person's account with these two amounts (copies of SMS's available) and end up with a happy seller as well as a buyer who is in possession of my John Deere Ride-on. I have pictures of when the mower was loaded with registration numbers and licence disk of the vehicle as well as good picture to ID the loaders.
