Regarding my bank account

About more than a month ago i went to Nedbank East rand Mall to close my bank account,i had to pay in over R300 to close this account. The person that helped me said that the account would be closed the following day. Now month and half later Nedbank phone me and tell me my account is still open and i need to pay my arrears. I am highly upset because now o have to do everything all over again and take out another R300
